1978-86 Studied architecture at Tongji University, Shanghai. Master Degree in Architecture from Tongji University, Shanghai.
Master thesis on “Visual Information and its Communication”.
1986-87 German Scholarship for advanced studies (Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft) in Germany.
travel within Europe to major architectural sites.
1987-91 Work for doctoral thesis on “The Conceptual  Background of Classical Chinese Architecture” at the University of Technology, Munich.
1990-92 Advanced studies in directing at the Hochschule fuer Film und Fernsehen, Munich.

1986 Assistant lecturer at Tongji University, Shanghai.
1987 Assistant lecturer at Munich University of Technology.
1988-91 Lecturer at the Fachhochschule in Munich, teaching ancient Chinese architecture and landscape architecture.

1987 Research programme on Shanghai residences under Prof. Max Baecher, exhibition at the International Trade Fair in Hanover.
2003 Revamping “Xiao Hui Wang Art Workshops” space at Tongji University, Shanghai.

1992 Script writer for Chinese sections “Xi’an and Culture in Tang Dynasty”, “Emei Mountain and Buddhist Culture”, “Tai Mountain and Taoist Culture” in the television series The Ancient Cultures of the World, produced by Bavaria Television.
1993 Consultant for the documentary film “Families in Beijing  Courtyard House”, a German & Chinese co-production.
1994 “The Broken Moon” (script, direction), a black-and-white 35mm film.
